The
Book Power Club has been running since 1996 at Arbor Hill
Elementary School, and 2005 at Giffen Elementary School (both
schools are in the Albany City School District).
Both
programs serve third graders (as they prepare for the New
York State 4th Grade Language Arts Exam); and run on day,
after school, per week.
Volunteers
come in and work one-on-one with students on planned topics
each week, improving reading skills, making reading enjoyable
and giving the students books to own.
