Alumnus reflects on 15-LOVE

>>Thousands of youth throughout the Capital Region have participated in 15-LOVE since 1990. One of 15-LOVE'S most comprehensive programs, the Excellence Program, combines high quality tennis instruction with the promotion of leadership and academic excellence. Sugam Langer, a local attorney and alumnus of the Excellence Program, recently sat down with Elaine Houston from NewsChannel 13 to reflect on her experience with 15-LOVE.

15-LOVE's 12 and under team took the 2011 championship in the USTA's Eastern Section, Northern Region team tennis league. The team is coached by Todd Benton and Domingo Montes. Contratulations to teammates Curtis, Mish, Alyana, Nesiru, Tiffany, Preston and Michela.

USTA award

Congratulations to 15-LOVE's Program Director, Domingo Montes, for winning the 2012 USTA Regional Volunteer of the Year Award from USTA Eastern. Domingo coordinates staff and volunteers for 15-LOVE, and was part of the team that helped reach over 3,100 inner-city youth in 2011.

Indoor tennis

Beginner and intermediate indoor tennis lessons are underway on Saturday mornings at the Capital Region Tennis and Fitness Club in Albany. We will be taking a break for the holidays on Saturday, December 24th and 31st. Classes will resume on Saturday, January 7th.

Since 1990, 15-LOVE has served over 35,000 inner-city youth and each day we strives to create, enhance and execute free programs that are beneficial to today’s youth.

15-LOVE has also offered a safe and positive environment to help kids get off the streets and create positive experiences and relationships with others. One 15-LOVE participant has said “…positive role models and a safe setting are necessary for people to grow and reach their true potential.”
