Junior Tennis Foundation Supports Inner City Tennis in Capital Region

The Junior Tennis Foundation (JTF) supports inner city tennis in the Capital District with a donation of $22,000 to the Capital Region Youth Tennis Foundation (CRYTF) for it's 15-Love Program.

"We are pleased to make this award to an organization which has done so much in the Capital Region through tennis," said Doris Herrick, JTF Executive Director.

"CRYTF has a special meaning to us because we helped with getting it off the ground back in 1990 and therefore, we feel very supportive of 15-Love. Were are pleased with the growth that has occured and want to recogvize the good work," she went on to say.

JTF is the funding arm of USTA/Eastern, Inc. According to Ms. Herrick, they exist to support junior tennis and tennis for special populations within the Eastern Section. JTF was incorporated in 1979 as a non-profit organization to raise funds for junior tennis and for tennis. Nearly eight hundred thousand dollars has been given in grants to worthy programs. Their major fundraiser each year is the Hall of Fame dinner. This year 15-Love was featured in the dinner program.

"In light of escalating costs and cutbacks in providing service to the residents of Albany, Troy, and Schenectady, such a generous grant will certainly help us to continue to deliver positive quality programs," said CRYTF Executive Director, Bennita Givens.
